year's conference is organised jointly by the Department of Economics at University of
Helsinki, Government Institute for Economic Research (VATT) and the Association of Finnish
Local and Regional Authorities. The official language of the conference is English. All papers will have a discussant. There are no parallel sessions. All participants (30-50) are expected to have an active role even when they are not speakers or discussants. There are thirteen papers to be presented in two days plus a keynote speech by Professor John M. Quigley from University of California, Berkeley, USA. In addition, a poster session is organised for papers that are not presented. The conference fee is 800 FIM, covering one night (Monday/Tuesday) at the hotel, the meals and material of the conference. The cost for each additional night at the hotel is from Friday to Sunday 395 FIM.
